Hi, my name is Megan, and I have wanderlust.

I’m living on a tour bus right now, I’m in a hotel every night, this is going to be my life until May…and I’m planning a trip for my two weeks off.

Yep. Not staying at home refusing to leave my house or put on pants for two weeks. I’m planning an overseas adventure. Part of me really wanted to go back to Ireland, but we’re going to Greece and (back to) Italy instead.

I had this grand plan where I was going to book like one hotel room a week. Space everything out so as not to get stressed. But booking travel is like an addiction for me. Sure, I just booked a hotel in Athens…but I could look at Delphi.

Yeah, I should be a responsible author, but what’s the best way to get from Santorini to Crete (it’s a ferry, in case you were wondering.)

What was meant to take more than a month to do took me all of six days. And not because I wanted to get it over with, or because it was cheaper. I couldn’t stop looking at I scoured like some people swipe through tinder. (more…)

Love and Adventure February 16, 2016

Happy late Valentine’s Day! I know, I know. The time for lovers has passed, and the time for discount chocolate is upon us. I love cheap chocolate. I really do. But I had an amazing Valentine’s Day.

The husband took me to Disney, ‘cause season passes are the best, and it was crowded as all get out. But I got to see the new baby gorilla, a bunch of really cool Star Wars things, including my favorite Star Wars character, BB-8.

And we ran around like little kids before having dinner at Belle’s castle.

But the best part was when, while trying to pass the wait times, we decided to try and figure out what the best adventure we had ever had was.

I had a hard time choosing. I’m split between watching the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain in Acadia, Maine, the hammock in Thailand, a night in Venice, fjords in Alaska, and of course the fountain show in Versailles. (more…)

I would love to say that my husband and I never fight. That we exist as two co-dependent peas in a pod and that our morning breathe smells like gummy bears and sunshine. But this would be a lie. We do fight. Not often, and usually not for more than ten minutes (I have a short attention span, and being mad is boring), but we do fight.

A few days ago, we were talking with some friends about being in Florence, Italy last year. My husband laughed and said, “Yeah, I really thought you were going to murder me.” And all the memories of considering pushing him out in front of a bus came flooding back. I either had to walk away from the story or hire a bus to finish the job. And this is why. (more…)

When you travel, you expect to find things that are different from what you’re used to. One of those things is toilets. My husband and I watched tons of documentaries before we went to Europe, and a bunch of them said that in Italy there were some places where a toilet meant squatting over a hole in the ground. Me being the strange person that I am, I was really excited about this. I wanted to pee in the hole. (more…)

A lot of things are different in Europe. I was looking forward to the cultural differences on our big trip. Seeing the world, learning about other people.  Excitement! Adventure! Yay! Well, that’s all well and good. But everyone has limits. (more…)
