Bum ba da dum bum ba bummmmm!

The news is officially official! I have signed a contract with Curiosity Quills Press for a new series! The Tale of Bryant Adams: How I Magically Messed Up My Life in Four Freakin’ Days is set to be released in summer 2017!

Megan O’Russell’s THE TALE OF BRYANT ADAMS: How I Magically Messed Up My Life in Four Freakin’ Days, pitched as a tongue-in-cheek take on Harry Potter meets Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere, in which evil shadow-cloaked monsters and mist ladies track Bryant Adams through the streets and tunnels of Manhattan all because of a magical cellphone that burned down half his school, most of a penthouse… and a trash can, until it increasingly looks like surviving the weekend might take more magic than even the pyromaniac’s dream phone can provide.

And I’ve had a brilliant idea for the release of the next book in The Tethering Series, The Dragon Unbound. (more…)

Nuttycracker Sweet by Megan O’Russell
Contemporary Romance

Pointe shoes, tutus, and a snowy road trip with the man she hates. What could possibly go wrong?

The plan was simple. Get to Portland, dance The Nutcracker, and don’t murder your dance partner. And most definitely, do not, under any circumstances, fall in love with him.

A snowy road trip strands Elle Grant in a tiny cabin better suited for serial killings than rehearsals for two professional ballet dancers. With no one but the incredibly talented, excruciatingly handsome, and notoriously terrible Zachary Benson and a few taxidermy woodland creatures for company, Elle’s Christmas plans are officially ruined. Can she and Zach learn to like each other enough to dance together? And can Elle get home without losing her heart to the Christmas Cavalier?

Comic-Con Coincidence May 27, 2015

The coolest thing in the history of cool things has happened.

My mom is currently living in a city that had a Comic-Con this past weekend. She has a bunch of bookmarks for The Tethering and had nothing to do on Sunday, so she decided to head over to Comic-Con and see if she could pass them out. She finally got to the venue, and there were people crying outside. But she went in anyway and found the door volunteer and asked if she could get a ticket to go inside.

He said, “We’re all sold out. You are going to be one of the criers are you?”

My mom said no. She had just wanted to give out bookmarks for her daughter’s (my) book.

He asked what book I had written, and my mom handed him a bookmark for The Tethering.

Immediately the door dude says, “Oh, The Tethering. I read that. It was really good. I think the second one is out now, but my girlfriend shares her copies with me, and she doesn’t get home for a few weeks.”

Then he took all the bookmarks my mom had to give out to likely candidates of people who would like my book at the Comic-Con!

Guys, I have a reader that I don’t know and isn’t an author! And my mom randomly met him! And he liked my book! And wanted to make other people read my book! Ahhhhhhh!

And if you haven’t gotten your copy of The Siren’s Realm, book two in The Tethering Series, you have about six more days to enter a Goodreads giveaway for a signed copy. Click here to enter, and please share if you can!

It’s here! It’s here! The Tethering Preorder has begun! After a year of edits and tribulations, the Preorder date is upon us! And I couldn’t be more excited!

For those of you who don’t know, I wrote a young adult fantasy novel entitled The Tethering.

All sixteen-year-old Jacob Evans wants is to win the heart of Emilia Gray, but with order in the magical world crumbling, war threatening, and Emilia’s boyfriend living across the hall, he may never have the chance.

Jacob Evans loses everything he has ever known and is tossed into a world of magic. The Dragons, a group of rebel wizards, are threatening to expose the existence of magic to humans. Jacob is determined to find a way to fit into Emilia’s family, but as his powers grow, so does the danger. With the death toll mounting, Jacob is accused of acts of rebel terrorism and must fight to stay in a world he’s only just beginning to discover.

When Emilia’s life is threatened, Jacob must risk everything to save her. Does he have the power to rescue her in time? And what could their survival cost?

And now you can Preorder your copy through Kickstarter. I know what you’re thinking. If you have a publisher, why are they using Kickstarter? There are a few good answers to that. (more…)

When I was fifteen, I took a community college course all about children’s literature. We studied everything from Green Eggs and Ham to Harry Potter. I did an amazing defense of the use of upper vocabulary words in The Last of the Really Great Wangdoodles. And our final project was to write a children’s story. (more…)
