In Re the Rut October 12, 2018

I’m not good at being in between projects. I lose track of productivity and get less done than when I’m horribly overworked.

I sent two manuscripts to my agent, sent a proof to my publisher, rehearsed and opened a massive show, and am about to open a second show, and I have no idea what writing project to work on next.

I have things I could do but nothing that anyone is asking me to do. There is no deadline. I have no tether to my time. I don’t know when the last time was that I didn’t have some author thing I had to be working on with every spare moment.

I’ve been on a book binge. If you haven’t read Throne of Glass, I highly recommend the series. It’s been keeping me up reading way too late at night and helping fill the void where work should be.

I’m working on the script for another Children’s show, and the first is being rehearsed for its very first production, which is super exciting!

So I guess that’s what I’ll do, dive into the script and lyrics and see where that goes. Maybe edit a new short story to give away to my mailing list subscribers from my author site. Maybe… I have no idea.

I’ll find a project to hold my focus soon.

Or binge read every book in Barnes and Noble. One or the other.

The Book Addict’s Lament July 18, 2016

I have a problem. It’s kind of bad and a little embarrassing. Remember that time I moved everything I own into a storage unit?

In that tiny 4.5X8.5 space, there are fifteen boxes of books, not counting music books and other sheet music. Just books. Fifteen boxes of them. What is the one thing I own more of than anything else? Books! And what store is always the death of me? Barnes and Noble!

It’s an addiction! And it’s terrible!

I know, I know. I’m an author, and authors are supposed to like books. But I own books I haven’t even gotten to read! I’ll buy four, get through two, buy four more. It’s an endless, vicious cycle of the compulsive need to buy more books! And I own a nook! But it doesn’t matter. I want the weight of the paper in my hands. I want to see the spine on the bookshelf I don’t currently own. (more…)

The Tethering is Here! October 20, 2014

The day has arrived! The Tethering is now available on the Barnes and Noble website, Amazon, and Smashwords! Strangers can buy my book! After years of writing, revisions, and edits, Jacob Evans has been sent out into the world! It feels kind of like sending my characters to kindergarten. Shoving them out into the cold, cruel internet ether and hoping that I have prepared them well enough to survive on their own.

All sixteen-year-old Jacob Evans wants is to win the heart of Emilia Gray, but with order in the magical world crumbling, war threatening, and Emilia’s boyfriend living across the hall, he may never have the chance.

Jacob Evans loses everything he has ever known and is tossed into a world of magic. The Dragons, a group of rebel wizards, are threatening to expose the existence of magic to humans. Jacob is determined to find a way to fit into Emilia’s family, but as his powers grow, so does the danger. With the death toll mounting, Jacob is accused of acts of rebel terrorism and must fight to stay in a world he’s only just beginning to discover.

When Emilia’s life is threatened, Jacob must risk everything to save her. Does he have the power to rescue her in time? And what could their survival cost?

The paperback will be coming out before Christmas, but for today The Tethering can be placed on e-devices all over the world. My story will be in places I’ve never even heard of being read by people I’ve never met. It’s nerve wracking, thrilling, and completely incomprehensible.

Please Tweet, Facebook, and share The Tethering! Help the book to travel like digital fire!

And thank you all from the bottom of my heart for coming with me on this crazy ride!
