What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stranger

The Trouble with Time November 18, 2017

I have come to the conclusion that either I have aged significantly or I am living in a time vortex.

I am not old. In the grand scheme of life, I’m still pretty young. So the vortex is the easiest solution.

I believe the vortex might have been caused by tour. Wake up, get on a bus, try and sleep on the bus, get off the bus, forage for food, go to the theatre, try and figure out the shortest way to the stage, do the show, get back on the bus, go to sleep.

Shockingly enough, I feel like the show is the easiest part of that routine. (Seriously though. There are some venues with so many stairs between the stage and the dressing rooms, I’d almost prefer to be a naked Ozian than go all the way back up to get a new costume on. Getting arrested for public indecency is a great motivator for climbing the mountain of stairs to get a new costume on.)

But why, you might ask, are you suddenly so concerned with the time vortex that is tour sucking away your days and weeks?

Because I’ve just realized I have a new book series debuting in less than two months! That’s right. The Girl Without Magic is set to be released January 9th!

The signups for bloggers for the book review tour have been posted, the Goodreads page is up, and I still have to do my Christmas shopping between now and then. I’m having some serious holiday panic, and it hasn’t even hit Thanksgiving yet! If I were a Muppet, and my knees weren’t spent from the stairs of doom, I would be running around with my arms flailing over my head in panic.

But I’m not a Muppet. I am an author and a professional performer.

So I’m going to pretend book release isn’t coming and work on the sequel to The Girl Without Magic. Because that’s how I roll.

And up next on the blog, after a very long gap (sorry, I suck), I’ll tell you about our Day in Derry. Also known as “What to Do When the Innkeeper Isn’t In.”
