It’s here! It’s here! The Tethering Preorder has begun! After a year of edits and tribulations, the Preorder date is upon us! And I couldn’t be more excited!
For those of you who don’t know, I wrote a young adult fantasy novel entitled The Tethering.
All sixteen-year-old Jacob Evans wants is to win the heart of Emilia Gray, but with order in the magical world crumbling, war threatening, and Emilia’s boyfriend living across the hall, he may never have the chance.
Jacob Evans loses everything he has ever known and is tossed into a world of magic. The Dragons, a group of rebel wizards, are threatening to expose the existence of magic to humans. Jacob is determined to find a way to fit into Emilia’s family, but as his powers grow, so does the danger. With the death toll mounting, Jacob is accused of acts of rebel terrorism and must fight to stay in a world he’s only just beginning to discover.
When Emilia’s life is threatened, Jacob must risk everything to save her. Does he have the power to rescue her in time? And what could their survival cost?
And now you can Preorder your copy through Kickstarter. I know what you’re thinking. If you have a publisher, why are they using Kickstarter? There are a few good answers to that.
First, my publisher Silence in the Library has a great group of really devoted fans who love Kickstarter. By Preordering through Kickstarter, they are getting to be a part of the publication process. They even get their names in the thank you section of the book. They also get great deals and extras that aren’t available anywhere else. Like buying the paperback and getting the ebook for free. And there are amazing stretch goals, too. A stretch goal means that if The Tethering earns a certain amount, buyers start getting even more free stuff, like free ebooks. You can’t do things like that if you are only selling through Amazon. And by preordering through Kickstarter, you’ll be getting the book before anyone else does.
And it’s a great way to support an Indie Publishing House. Rather than gambling thousands of dollars on a book, they let the readers choose what they want. Then the cover artists, formatters, and editors are all paid in full by the end of the Kickstarter. With small presses closing all the time, frequently due to money issues, often leaving their editors, authors, and artists unpaid, the use of Kickstarter makes sure that these independent contractors get their money in a timely manner.
And the best part is, I made an awesome Kickstarter video that you have to see! It’s amazing what you can do when you pile talented friends and a green screen into your bedroom.
So please support small press, support my little Indie Author self, and go Preorder The Tethering.
